Sometimes, I am just happy to lend my skills to other Director, and focus on crafting pretty pixels. Here’s a few example of my work as a Director of Photography.
This is a film about control and power over appearances, over reality, and how this power can become dangerously exciting and addictive. The film's format is an echo of the characters themselves, both misleading its audience via visual manipulation.
STRAIGHT8 : DROP DEAD
Endorsed by Electric Theatre Collective I directed & filmed a short on a single cartridge of super8 film, with no edit. Audio was recorded separately, blindly and sent to the organisers of Straight8. For this reason, we rehearsed heavily. Most scene consist of a single source of light running off battery with a bit of smoke. Shot on a Nizo 6080. I ran a blackmagic pocket camera with a lavalier microphone mounted to the film engine to give me audio cue of the engine running, to help time the audio track right.
GEAR
Everyone knows, we often have discussion over gear. It’s normal but while I own myself quite a bit of equipment, in film & digital cameras, lenses and light, bits and bobs… I try to detach myself from these discussions a little bit. Having some gear allow me a certain freedom and spontaneity for my own projects, but I remain strongly camera agnostic. I will always suggest the solution that, I believe, is the best for the project. Please get in touch if you want a detailed list of my gear, or visit my rental page if you are interested to hire some of my light kit.
